Pink Drift Rose covers sunny garden edges with deep pink blooms on a low, spreading shrub. Rosa 'Meijocos' flowers from late spring into fall, with each bloom showing a softer pink center and yellow stamens. The plant stays compact at about 18 inches tall and 3 feet wide, making it useful in tight spaces. Our landscaper uses it along walkways and wall tops because the mounded habit lets the flowers sit close to the viewer.

This Drift® rose was bred by Meilland® as a cross between a full-size groundcover rose and a miniature rose. The result is a compact, repeat-blooming rose with glossy green foliage, good winter hardiness, and strong disease resistance for a low-growing rose. Pink Drift Rose is lightly fragrant and produces small flowers in steady flushes through the growing season. Use it for edging, mass planting, sunny slopes, patio containers, low hedges, or the front of mixed shrub beds.

Pink Drift Rose Care

Plant Pink Drift Rose in full sun with at least 6 hours of direct light each day. It adapts to many soil types, but the soil must drain well and should not stay wet around the roots. A slightly acidic to neutral pH is ideal for roses, along with loose soil enriched with compost.

Water deeply after planting and keep the soil evenly moist during the first growing season. Established plants tolerate short dry periods, but steady moisture supports better reblooming during summer heat. Fertilize in early spring with a slow-release rose fertilizer, then follow with a light midsummer feeding in long growing seasons. Mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture and reduce soil splash on the leaves.

Prune Pink Drift Rose in late winter or early spring once the threat of severe cold has passed. Remove dead, weak, or crossing stems, then trim the plant back by about one-third to renew the mound. Deadheading is optional, but removing spent blooms can help the next flower cycle arrive cleaner and faster.

Pink Drift Rose Spacing

Space Pink Drift Rose 2.5 to 3 feet apart for a full groundcover effect or low flowering border. On slopes, stagger plants instead of lining them in straight rows for more even coverage. For containers, use a pot at least 14 inches wide with drainage holes, and water more often during hot weather because roses in pots dry quickly.

Let Pink Drift Rose run along the sunny front edge of the bed, and plant allium, salvia, and sea thrift nearby for upright flowers, pollinator appeal, and similar drainage needs. Include little bluestem grass to give the planting fine-textured movement after the rose flushes. In containers, Pink Drift Rose can trail near the rim with alyssum or verbena filling open space between bloom cycles.
