Pinpoint® Gold False Cypress (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana) is a tall, narrow evergreen. When the soft foliage first comes in, it is yellow. As it ages, it turns to a bluish-green color. These shrubs provide two-tone color without requiring much maintenance.

This False Cypress makes a good specimen plant or can be planted along the foundation. They make good screening plants, border plants, landscape plants, edging plants, and container plants. They are deer resistant, as well. Pinpoint® Gold False Cypress are native to Oregon and California. They provide a good place for songbirds to live in the winter.

Pinpoint® Gold False Cypress Care

Plant Pinpoint® Gold False Cypress in good draining soil. Mulch around the shrub to maintain even moisture. Pinpoint® Gold False Cypress will grow in average soil with an average amount of water. The shrub will grow in sun to part sun in zones 5-7. The plant could benefit from an application of slow-release fertilizer for shrubs and trees in the spring.

This plant is very easy to maintain. It rarely needs pruning but can be pruned in the spring if necessary. Cut off sick or dead branches and leaves at any time of the year.

Pinpoint® Gold False Cypress Spacing

Pinpoint® Gold False Cypress grows 15-20 feet tall. It is slim, only spreading 4-5 feet. Since it is so slim, you only have to allow 5-7 feet between shrubs.
