Stripped foliage and a vigorous growth habit make the Pistachio White Tradescantia a sought-after plant. This Tradescantia 'Pistachio White' or inch plant features ovate foliage that comes to a point. The medium green leaves have random dark green and white stripes. The leaves densely grow on thick, reaching stems.

Tradescantia makes a beautiful ground cover, and the white accents brighten a shady bed or border. The stems will set roots as they grow and reach, allowing the plant to spread and quickly cover a large area. Add the Pistachio White Tradescantia to a mixed container as a spiller or put it in a hanging basket so the stems and variegated foliage can cascade. 

Pistachio White Tradescantia Care

Plant Pistachio White in partial sun to full shade. Some sunlight is necessary to maintain the vivid variegation, but too much will burn the leaves. Keep the soil moist and avoid overly dry conditions. Pistachio White Tradescantia is susceptible to root rot, so use loose, well-drained soil. Apply a slow-release fertilizer each spring. Use a product with increased nitrogen levels to promote leaf growth. 

Remove dead  damaged growth as it occurs. Long stems of a potted or hanging plant can become heavy and pull the roots from the soil, so trim length as needed. Tradescantia is easy to propagate using cuttings to create new plants. Move a landscape plant indoors before the weather turns cold and grow the Pistachio White Tradescantia as a houseplant during the winter.
