Echinacea Pow Wow® White, commonly called Pow Wow® White Coneflower, is a dazzling bloomer that every pollinator garden deserves. In early summer, it features large, clean white flowers with golden cones that persist through early fall. Snip a few stems for cut flower arrangements, but don’t forget to leave some dried seed heads for the finches in the winter. The green foliage forms a compact mound with sturdy upright stems.
This is an herbaceous perennial that is slow to emerge in spring. It forms a clump roughly 16 inches wide and 2 feet high. This coneflower is cold hardy to zone 5 and develops drought tolerance over time. The flowers attract butterflies and bees, but deer do not find this plant particularly palatable. Echinacea is a staple in the meadow, wildlife, prairie, and cut-flower gardens. They also grow well in containers for small gardens needing a bright punch of color.
Pow Wow® White Coneflower Care
This perennial blooms best in full to part sun, with at least 4 – 6 hours of direct sunlight. It prefers fertile, sandy loam, but will tolerate poor, dry soil if given sufficient moisture. Water Pow Wow® at least weekly during the summer to establish its roots. Apply a thick layer of organic compost around the base to conserve moisture.
Deadhead this plant to prolong the blooming period and prevent self-seeding. Divide echinacea in early fall every 3 – 5 years.
Pow Wow® White Coneflower Spacing
For planting Pow Wow® in groups, space plants approximately 1 foot apart, center on center, staggering the rows. If growing in a container, choose a frost-proof pot with excellent drainage and a diameter of at least 12 inches.
