The Prairie Wildfire Daylily will light up your yard with its boldly colored blooms and arching, grassy foliage. This Hemerocallis cultivar has 5-inch wide flowers in a deep red hue with yellow throats. The petals have a gentle ruffle along the edges and stand on tall, sturdy stems. The Prairie Wildfire Daylily blooms for several weeks, starting in mid-summer.
Plant this daylily in beds and borders, or create a stunning mass planting. This plant can thrive in containers, and the flowers can be cut for use in arrangements. The flowers stand above green foliage that adds fullness to the plants. The lovely blooms are a favorite with pollinators, so you’ll see bees and butterflies pay a visit. The Prairie Wildfire Daylily is cold tolerant, easy to maintain, and grows as an herbaceous perennial in zones 3 through 9.
Prairie Wildfire Daylily Care
Plant Prairie Wildfire Daylily in full to partial sunlight. This variety will do best with morning sun and afternoon shade. Daylilies have average water needs and prefer moist, well-drained soil. This beauty is not a heavy feeder, and a layer of organic mulch spread around the base of the plant will support new growth.
This daylily is an herbaceous perennial, so all the growth will fade at the end of the growing season. Dead growth can be removed in the fall or the spring.
Prairie Wildfire Daylily Spacing
The Prairie Wildfire Daylily stands 18 to 23 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide. Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart when creating a full bed or mass planting.
