Lavender plants are known for their showy flowers, but the Primavera Spanish Lavender takes things to a new level. Also known as Lavandula stoechas ‘Primavera’, this annual has upright petals in a bold shade of dark purple. Fragrant flowers bloom during the spring and summer. The gray-green foliage has a rounded shape.
Feature the Primavera Spanish Lavender in a bed or border, or create a meadow-inspired mass planting. Plant it near the front of a bed so the flowers can be admired, and trim the flowers to display in arrangements. The Primavera Spanish Lavender also makes a lovely container plant, allowing for placement on decks and porches. The flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds, making this plant a welcome addition to a butterfly garden. Deer and rabbits do not favor the plant for added convenience.
Primavera Spanish Lavender Care
Primavera Spanish Lavender needs full sun and moist soil that is well-drained and has an acidic to neutral pH. This plant has average water needs, but it can handle dry conditions. Primavera Spanish Lavender is not a heavy feeder and does not require fertilizer, but a light dose of balanced plant food in the spring can help the plant get off to a strong start. Prune the plant by one-third after the first round of flowers fade. This rejuvenating cut will encourage new growth and create a more bushy plant.
Potted Primavera Spanish Lavender can be brought indoors before the weather turns cold. Place the plant in a sunny window and water when the top couple inches of soil are dry.

Primavera Spanish Lavender has a mounded, upright growth habit. Mature plants reach 16 to 18 inches tall and 14 to 16 inches wide. Select a container 14 inches in diameter or space plants 14 to 16 inches apart.
