Pristine Pink Beardtongue (Penstemon barbatus 'Pristine Pink') features attractive foliage and romantic blooms. The dark green leaves are slender and lance shaped, while the bell-shaped flowers are a cool ombré pink. Pristine Pink Beardtongue grows vigorously up to 15-20 inches tall with a 16-18-inch spread. This summer bloomer supports bee populations and attracts hummingbirds.

Pristine Pink Beardtongue is easy to grow and low maintenance once established. It has an upright growth habit and is very sturdy. Pristine Pink Beardtongue is deer resistant and hardy in USDA zones 5-8.

Pristine Pink Beardtongue Care

Pristine Pink Beardtongue requires moist, well-draining soil that can be rocky or sandy. It also prefers neutral to acidic soil pH. For best results, grow it in a location that receives part to full sun, and gets at least 4-6 hours of sunlight daily. Adequate sunlight is required to ensure the beardtongue flower stalks stay upright. Fertilizer should be applied yearly during the early spring. Pristine Pink Beardtongue prefers to receive about 1 inch of water per week during the growing season. Once established, they are tolerant of short periods of drought.

Pristine Pink Beardtongue doesn’t need much pruning. Remove spent blooms throughout the growing season to improve the look of the plant. During late winter, you can cut back the foliage near ground level. Mulch will help protect the roots by retaining moisture and warmth.

Pristine Pink Beardtongue Spacing

Pristine Pink Beardtongue needs adequate airflow between plants. Space them at least 1-2 feet apart.
