The Private Jet™ Arborvitae is a versatile, hardy, and charming shrub that will enhance any landscape. Frilly green foliage provides texture and dependable year-round color. The Thuja occidentalis is a fast grower with a columnar form. This tall shrub has a full base and gradually narrows near the top, creating a visually pleasing form.
This arborvitae is a North American native, so it requires very little care once it has settled in. The tall size and dense form make it an excellent candidate for creating a privacy hedge. Use this shrub to define a property line or provide seclusion around a patio. The Private Jet™ Arborvitae is heat tolerant, so it can easily handle hot summer weather. As an evergreen, it provides color during the bleak winter and grows in zones 3 through 7.
Private Jet™ Arborvitae Care
Plant the Private Jet™ Arborvitae in full to part sun. New plants need consistent water. Established plants often only need water during a dry period. This shrub is adaptable when it comes to soil, but rich, well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH is best. Feed the plant using a balanced, slow-release fertilizer each spring.
Pruning is not always necessary, but shape the Private Jet™ Arborvitae as needed in late winter or early spring. Lightly prune the shrub because a heavy prune can be stressful and may stunt growth.
Private Jet™ Arborvitae Spacing
Mature Private Jet™ Arborvitae shrubs reach 15 to 20 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide. Space shrubs 3 to 4 feet apart to create a hedge or privacy screen.
