Puff Pastry™ White Chocolate Stonecrop's flowers stay clean as they mature, shifting from creamy white and pale yellow to a deeper red. It holds a solid, upright silhouette at about 12–14 inches tall and 14–16 inches wide, resembling a tidy “mini shrub” in sunny perennial plantings. Compared with many stonecrops that get floppy or look tired after bloom, this one keeps strong stems and a polished finish well into fall. We've been using it for late-season color along walkways and patio edges.
Sedum x 'PPC093' was bred for a clumping, mounded habit with sturdy purple-tinged stems that support dense clusters of starry flowers from late summer into fall. Once established it handles heat and dry spells better than most flowering perennials. Deer and rabbits usually leave it alone. The spent blooms dry right on the plant, giving winter structure instead of turning mushy, which makes it useful in rock gardens, rooftop-style plantings, and crisp border edging. The blooms feed pollinators when many earlier perennials are fading, so it’s a smart “bridge” plant between summer and autumn.
Puff Pastry™ White Chocolate Stonecrop Care
Plant Puff Pastry™ in full sun for the tightest growth and best flowering. It can tolerate a little afternoon shade in very hot areas. Give it well-drained soil that leans sandy or gritty, with a soil pH around 6.0–7.5. Avoid heavy, wet spots, since standing moisture will shorten its life.
Water deeply after planting, then let the top few inches of soil dry before watering again. If leaves start to soften or wrinkle, it needs a drink. This sedum rarely needs fertilizer, but a light application of a balanced, slow-release feed in early spring can help in very lean soils. In colder zones the top growth may die back after hard freezes, while the dried flower heads can be left for winter interest until cleanup time.
In early spring, cut stems back to just above the new basal growth to refresh the clump and keep the habit compact. If you prefer a shorter, denser look, pinch or trim the tips once in late spring before buds form. Division is easiest in spring if the crown gets crowded after a few seasons.
Puff Pastry™ White Chocolate Stonecrop Spacing
Space plants 16–18 inches apart so each clump can fill out without shading its neighbors, which also improves airflow around the stems. In containers, start with a 12–14 inch pot and use a fast-draining mix so the roots never sit wet.
In the landscape, pair Puff Pastry™ with ice plant and blanket flowers for a long-running, sun-loving mix that doesn’t demand constant watering, and tuck in a bluebeard nearby to echo the late-season timing with a different texture. For pots, try it with petunias spilling over the rim and hens & chicks at the surface to keep the whole container tough in heat and bright sun.
