The mounded growth habit and tall, flowering stems make the Purrsian Blue Catmint an excellent addition to a butterfly garden or an area that needs consistent color. The Nepeta faassenii boasts tiny, periwinkle blooms from June through September. The flowers grow along tall stems that reach about 18 inches tall.
Include this looker in beds, borders, or mass plantings. This upright plant has a very full and rounded appearance, so it will completely fill in a space. Butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds enjoy the fragrant flowers. Most foraging animals do not like the Purrsian Blue Catmint, but cats do enjoy nibbling on the leaves, so plant in an area accessible to feline visitors. This plant is a perennial in USDA zones 3 through 8.
Purrsian Blue Catmint Care
Plant Purrsian Blue Catmint in full sun in moist, well-drained soil. Water this plant when the top few inches of soil are dry. Purrsian Blue Catmint is drought-tolerant but continue to water during a dry spell to support consistent growth. A light dose of balanced fertilizer each spring encourages new growth.
Prune this plant by up to one-third during the growing season if the stems appear leggy. Cut back all of the growth in late fall or early spring.
