Winner of the WFRS "World's Best Rose" in 2006, Red Eden Climber™ Rose’s vivid color and season-long blooms set it apart from the rest. This variety's bloom is full of deep, heavy, clustered petals, crimson in color. The lush flowers bloom multiple times in a season, from spring to fall, and have a classic aromatic fragrance that will delight the senses. The foliage is a dark semi-glossy green that exquisitely contrasts with the dramatic coloring of the blooms. As a climbing rose, this variety can climb up to 10 to 12 feet of trellis, fencing, or just about any support structure. The vertical form that can spread 4 to 6 feet wide is perfect for preserving privacy in any landscape.
Straightforward to grow, this rose is disease resistant, heat tolerant, and low maintenance. However, this rose is a thorny variety, so wear protective gloves when handling and removing thorns from cut flowers. In addition to the exquisite blooms, the rosehips are notably attractive and will add a graceful air to your landscape, even before blooming! Plant it with an obelisk or near a doorway for a magnificent statement piece. This variety will quickly become the beating heart of your garden, attracting pollinators galore.
Red Eden Climber™ Rose Care
This rose loves full sun and sandy, well-draining soil, rich in nutrients, with almost any pH level. Before it blooms, feed your rose plant with an organic rose fertilizer, and then again mid-season. Water regularly until established, at the base of the plant first thing in the morning. Overwatering can lead to fungal diseases and root rot, so check your soil to ensure it is thirsty enough before watering. Once established, your rose only needs 1 inch of water every week and a half; if there is plenty of rain, there is no need to water it.
Deadhead throughout the season, removing spent flowers just after they die; this will make way for more, better blooms throughout the season into the next! In the spring, prune after the last frost has passed to promote vigorous new growth. In late winter, prune back any thin, fragile, damaged, old, or unproductive canes.
Red Eden Climber™ Rose Spacing
Space this rose 6 feet apart, enough room to grow to its full mature width. Plant it on a support structure, 10 to 12 feet tall, to support its vigorous upwards growth.
