With its compact yet vigorous growth, the Red Streamer Climbing Rose is ideal for growing in a container or on a small patio. It produces masses of bright red flowers from spring until fall, which stand out against yellow and white centers. Growing to roughly 8 feet tall and wide, the Red Streamer Climbing Rose is perfect for covering a small trellis, fence or wall.

The Red Streamer Climbing Rose develops a lovely backdrop of glossy green foliage that is disease resistant against black spot and mildew. With a climbing habit, this rose will continue to bloom throughout the summer if deadheaded frequently. Being a compact climber, this rose does not take over and is suitable for growing in a large planter or container. Red Steamer is just right for adding some color and interest to a small sunny wall.

Red Streamer Climbing Rose Care

For the most prolific flowers and to ward off any disease, Red Streamer is best grown in full sun. As a hungry plant, it prefers to be grown in fertile soil that is enriched with some well-rotted manure. To help it establish, regular watering is necessary for the first few seasons and even longer regularly if grown in a container. To prevent any nutrient deficiencies, a rose fertilizer can be applied during the growing season.

This climbing rose should be pruned in late winter or early spring while it is still dormant. To prune, shorten any side shoots back to 3 to 4 buds and tie in the leading stems. Any dead, diseased, or rubbing branches can be removed at any time of the year.

Red Streamer Climbing Rose Spacing

This Red Streamer Climbing Rose can reach an eventual 6 to 8 feet tall and wide over time. To produce a solid wall of Red Steamer along a fence or trellis, it can be planted about 6 feet apart.
