The green foliage and pairs beautifully with the large red berries and purple blooms. The fruiting flowers appear in the summer and are a medium purple. The abundant red fruit is ready for harvesting in the fall. When fresh, the berries are bitter. To obtain sweet berries, dry them out in a bright spot or in a dehydrator.
