Old-fashioned roses add a touch of the classic to any garden, and Reminiscent Crema Rose offers a traditional look with modern touches. The buttermilk-colored blooms continue to appear all summer, delivering a sweet rose scent in a heavily petaled flower. Not quite white and not quite yellow, the followers can serve as a perfect complement to red and pink roses. This pretty hybrid shrub from Serbia is versatile; it thrives in USDA zones 4 through 9 and is bred for heat tolerance and disease resistance.
A low-growing rose shrub, Reminiscent Crema reaches only about 3 feet high or less and 2 feet wide. The scented blooms appear continuously in summer with no need to deadhead to ensure new buds develop. So, it’s little care for a big return on flower power. Place the small shrub in a container so you can move it near the patio for summer evenings, when the cream-like flowers shine at dusk and you can enjoy the scent. Or line up a low border of these roses to grace your entryway or driveway for a touch of classic elegance in the landscape.
Reminiscent™ Crema Rose Care
Be sure to plant your Reminiscent Crema Rose where it will get plenty of sun, at least 6 hours a day. Plant the container-grown shrub in the spring for best results, or after the last frost in your area. Water regularly to keep the soil around the rose evenly moist throughout spring and summer. Water near the roots, avoiding spraying the foliage. Give your rose a regular supply of basic nutrients by applying compost, organic or slow-release fertilizers according to product directions.
Your shrub rose is self-cleaning, meaning there is no need to deadhead blooms as they fade. Prune the shrub in spring by removing any dead branches and cutting it to shape. It will not hurt your rose if you lightly prune off branches or remove flowers for cutting during the growing season. Cut flowers for indoor arrangements just as the buds begin to open for best results.
Reminiscent™ Crema Rose Spacing
Although disease resistant, this rose shrub needs a little air circulation for best health. So be sure to plant a border or grouping far enough apart to avoid growing into one another once mature, about 1.5 to 2 feet apart.
