The Ringo Double Pink rose received the prestigious First Class Certificate at the Hague Rose Trials for a reason—most likely, for several reasons. Featuring semi-double flowers atop glossy foliage, this prolific bloomer is stunning just for the type and number of rose blossoms it produces. Add to that a wine-colored center with bright yellow stamens surrounded by light pink petals, and this little rose bush will have everyone who walks by doing a double-take.
This rose is not as delicate as it seems, either. It’s bred to tolerate heat and resist disease, and to bloom all season. Thriving in USDA zones 4 through 9, Ringo Double Pink needs only plenty of sun to keep producing its unique blooms. The shrub reaches 2 to 3 feet high and wide, so it makes a nice statement all alone, as part of a large rose bed, or forming a mass of double pink flowers as a hedge or part of a mixed border. Use it to add a cottage feel to a garden or to stun visitors who approach your home.
Ringo® Double Pink Rose Care
Plant Ringo Double Pink Rose in full sun (at least 6 hours a day) and in average soil that drains well. Then, just water regularly and fertilize after pruning in spring. Water near the base of the shrub and avoid spraying foliage and flowers when possible. Use a granular dose fertilizer for best results, making sure to follow the product’s instructions.
Each spring as you see new growth forming, you can prune back at least one-third of the shrub to shape it and encourage new growth and blooms. Cut above a thick and healthy-looking bud for best fullness. You don’t have to deadhead the flowers in summer and fall to keep it blooming, but if you like, cut some of the pretty three-colored roses for indoor display.
Ringo® Double Pink Rose Spacing
When planting this medium shrub before other roses, tall shrubs, or trees, give it room to reach mature spread, planting it no closer than about 2 feet. Use 1.5 to 2 feet as a spacing guide when planting a hedge or border of Ringo Double Pinks.
