Growing Zones
Having been introduced in the 1970s, the Rise and Shine Mini Rose is a long-term favorite amongst gardeners. Rosa x hybrida 'Rise and Shine' as it is also known, is a stunning miniature rose that produces a mass of bright yellow flowers from summer until fall. As a compact rose, the Rise and Shine Mini Rose grows to around 2-3 feet tall.
The Rise and Shine Mini Rose forms a tidy mound of dark green foliage that contrasts nicely against the bright yellow blooms. It is considered winter hardy in zones 5 to 11 and has good disease resistance. Being a miniature rose, it is ideal for growing as a specimen in a container. However, you can grow it as part of an herbaceous border or to form a low informal hedge.
Rise and Shine Mini Rose Care
Plant the Rise and Shine Mini Rose in full sun for it to thrive. However, it can also tolerate partial shade. Like all roses, it prefers fertile and well-drained soil that is kept moist. Fertilizing with a rose-specific feed from early spring onwards will help encourage new buds to form. Frequent watering is required after planting and until established. Once mature, some dry spells can be tolerated but sufficient moisture is needed to maintain plant health and the best display.
Removing any faded flowers will help promote new blooms until the fall. Prune when dormant in the winter, making angled cuts back to an outward-facing bud. Mulch in spring with organic matter.
Rise and Shine Mini Rose Spacing
The Rise and Shine Mini Rose can reach an eventual height and width of 2 to 3 feet. Space each shrub around 2 to 3 feet apart to provide good air circulation.
