Romantica® Ball Gown™ Tea Rose is built for the gardener who wants a true hybrid tea look without a sprawling shrub. It keeps a tidy, vertical profile, maturing about 5–6 feet tall and just 2–3 feet wide. Rosa ‘Meipapey’ PP 35,892 stacks each medium pink bloom with 100+ petals, so the flowers hold a plush “cut-rose” fullness. It outshines many classic hybrid teas by pairing packed blooms with cleaner foliage and easier maintenance. The fragrance is heavenly, so place it where you’ll brush past it on purpose.
This Meilland-bred rose repeats in flushes through the season, and the upright habit makes it a natural choice for long stems in a vase. The scent presents as classic rose first, then a soft powder and a fresh grassy note as the bloom opens wider. Dark green foliage frames the flowers well. Use it as a single focal point at the back of a sunny mixed border, or plant a short row where you want a narrow hedge of blooms.
Romantica® Ball Gown™ Tea Rose Care
Give Romantica® Ball Gown™ full sun for strongest flowering and sturdier stems. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (about 6.0–7.0), improving sandy beds with compost and loosening heavy clay before planting. Good drainage is essential, especially in winter, so avoid spots that stay soggy after rain.
Water regularly until established, soaking the root zone when the top couple inches of soil feel dry instead of sprinkling the surface. Feed as new growth starts in spring, and again after a heavy bloom flush to support repeat flowering through summer. In zones 6–11 it will slow down in cooler weather and leaf drop is normal; it rebounds with fresh canes as temperatures warm.
Deadhead spent blooms back to a strong outward-facing leaf to keep the plant forming new buds. In late winter or very early spring, remove thin, damaged, or crossing canes and shape the plant to an open center for better airflow. If you grow it in a container, plan on winter protection for the pot in colder parts of its range, since roots are more exposed than in-ground plants.
Romantica® Ball Gown™ Tea Rose Spacing
Space plants about 4 feet apart so each shrub can fill out while keeping airflow through the foliage. For containers, use a pot 20–24 inches wide with drainage holes and a rich, fast-draining mix.
In the landscape, pair Romantica® Ball Gown™ with lungwort and Shasta daisies to layer foliage color and summer blooms beneath the rose, and add abelias nearby for a longer-season shrub backdrop. In containers, try coleus for leafy contrast and nemesia to trail over the rim without competing with the rose’s upright form.
