Whether you plant Rose Sprite Phlox as a groundcover or in a container, be sure to place this pretty plant in a spot where you can enjoy its fragrance. That will be easy, since this phlox can grow and bloom in full sun or light shade. In mid- to late spring, delicate pink flowers appear to attract early bees and butterflies to your garden. The blossoms can last up to six weeks and have a delicate, sweet fragrance you're sure to notice when you pass by.
Rose Sprite Phlox flowers appear above thin, light green foliage that mounds in the middle. The pink blooms have a tiny white halo in the center, making them even more attractive to the eye. Plant a group of Rose Sprite Phlox plants in a garden bed or along a border for a mass of spring color. All phlox hybrids are great plants for low-growing mass plantings for a big, dramatic color effect each spring. Rose Sprite also is a pretty container plant that grows only to about 8 inches tall, leaving room for summer bloomers behind its attractive foliage.
Rose Sprite Phlox Care
Hybrid phlox plants are long-lived perennials in most zones, and your Rose Sprite will be winter and summer hardy in zones 3 through 8. If your area is on the hotter side of these zones, be sure to give your phlox a little shade each day. Rose Sprite Phlox needs regular watering and is easy to maintain. You don't have to deadhead the plants, but shearing off faded flowers after they begin to dry might result in a second flush of blooms.
Rose Sprite Phlox Spacing
Rose Sprite Phlox grows to a mature size of about 20 inches around. It will spread a little, but does not spread aggressively, so plant your phlox about 18 to 22 inches apart (closer to 18 inches for a mass planting and closer to 22 if you want to see the shape of each little mounded plant).
