Growing Zones
Plant the Safari Rose Aloe for the beautiful statement-worthy flowers or because this drought-tolerant plant is the perfect addition to a Xeriscape garden. This fast-growing succulent is a repeat bloomer that boasts thick, succulent foliage in shades of green with hints of grayish-blue and soft teeth along the edges. The foliage is plenty of reason to enjoy this low maintenance plant, but this Aloe flowers from summer to mid-winter. Showy flower spikes grow up to 1.5 feet tall and are covered in tubular rose-pink blossoms.
As a succulent, Aloe is drought-tolerant, making it an excellent landscape plant in naturally dry areas or locations that have limited water. The Safari Rose Aloe is also heat-tolerant, allowing it to thrive in warm climates, like in the South. Enjoy the striking good looks and use this plant as a focal point in rock gardens, mass plantings, as ground cover, or in a container.
Safari Rose Aloe Plant Care
Plant the Safari Rose Aloe in full sun to part shade and use sandy or rocky soil. This plant likes to dry out, so lots of light and well-draining soil help it thrive. Newly planted Aloe will need water once or twice a week for the first growing season, but the plant will need very little water or care once established. This clump-forming plant does not require pruning, so remove any damaged growth, but otherwise let it do its thing. Fertilize annually in the spring to start the growing season off strong.
The Safari Rose Aloe grows as a perennial in USDA zones 9 through 11. This plant is not winter-hardy in other zones, so it will need to be brought inside to overwinter. When spending the winter indoors, place the Safari Rose Aloe in a spot with bright indirect light and average or low humidity. Let the soil completely dry out before watering.
Safari Rose Aloe Plant Spacing
This is a large plant that can reach heights of 1.5 feet and grow to be 3 feet wide. Plan accordingly and select a spot that can handle a large plant, but also make sure it will not block light or interfere with smaller plants. Space this Aloe 2 feet apart when planting to create a consistent border or wall of plants or space plants 4 feet apart to allow for room between each plant.
