The Sally™ Clematis is a looker that boasts charming pink flowers. Each petal has a gentle curve that gives the blooms a bit of texture and drama and causes the blooms to resemble stars. The flowers retain their color and will even turn darker when grown in full sun. This free-flowering beauty starts to bloom in the spring and will continue to push out flowers into the fall. The vines are very full and lush and feature loads of bright green foliage.
Clematis is a fast-grower and a natural climber, so give this vine something it can hold onto, like a trellis. Use this perennial to create a border or privacy screen and plant near the back of beds or borders, so the reaching vines provide a lovely backdrop for plants near the front. Clematis is a wonderful container plant, and when grown in a container, the plant can be featured on a deck or patio, and the flowers can easily be admired.
Sally™ Clematis Care
Sally™ Clematis likes part shade to full sun but grow in a spot with morning sun and afternoon shade for best results. Water weekly or when the top few inches of the soil dries out. Use rich, moist, and well-drained soil. Clematis is a heavy feeder, and routinely fertilizing the plant will encourage more growth and prolific blooms. In early spring, apply a low nitrogen fertilizer. Apply a balanced fertilizer once a month throughout the rest of the growing season.
This vine is deciduous and will die back after a frost. The dead growth can be removed in the fall or left in place to overwinter and removed in the spring.
Sally™ Clematis Spacing
This vining beauty will grow 4 to 5 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide. When grown in a container, one plant can live in an 8- to 10-inch pot. When grown in the landscape or a bed, space plants 2 to 3 feet apart.
