Oh, boy! Fresh blueberries with your cereal every morning on the front porch? Blueberry pancakes? Who’s in? First you will be delighted in spring by a bush covered in tiny, white and sweetly fragrant blooms lasting about a week, they are a harbinger of what is to come.

A compact, evergreen plant whose leaves turn a deep red in winter, this blueberry was developed specifically for small spaces. Although ideal for use in a hanging basket that is not the limit of its potential. It would make a great accent plant in the perennial border or an interesting groundcover as it is low maintenance, and has no disease or pest issues. It would do well in pots or containers but growing in hanging baskets is where it really shines. Just reach up into that hanging basket on your front porch and start harvesting delicious blueberries from mid-July on. You won’t be disappointed.

Sapphire Cascade Blueberry Care

Blueberry plants like full sun and prefer a slightly acidic soil. So, if you are growing them in pots, containers or hanging baskets, a few things should be considered prior to planting. A potting mix of peat moss and either cow manure or compost would suit them well as would an organic potting soil. This same mix would also be applicable to blueberry plants installed as a groundcover or in the perennial border.

Plants growing in pots or baskets may require a little extra care in areas where temperatures drop below freezing for any extended period of time. In these locations it would be best to partially bury the plant for the winter and re-pot in spring.

Sapphire Cascade Blueberry Spacing

Cascade Blueberry plants can grow 18 to 24 inches in height and 18 to 24 inches in width so one per hanging basket would be best. They would also grow well in mass in a large container that is suitable enough to protect their roots in a deep freeze. They would be equally at home planted as accents in the perennial bed or as informal hedge along a walkway. Birds and small animals may enjoy this bounty as well. You may consider covering the plants with garden netting at the time of fruiting to protect your harvest. Space these bushes at least 2 feet apart, center on center. And you can provide even more space between the plants if you would like to get to the complete harvest of berries easier.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
