If you’ve shied away from adding honeysuckle to your landscape in the past because you were afraid that it would be invasive nature would take over your yard, Scentsation Honeysuckle is the one for you. This non-invasive honeysuckle is covered with strongly scented creamy-white and yellow flowers from mid-spring to late summer. The flowers produce attractive bright red berries in the fall.
Scentsation' Lonicera periclymenum blooms on new wood. This climbing plant performs best when planted near a sturdy trellis, pergola, tree, wall or fence that it can happily climb. If unsupported, it makes an excellent ground cover. Plant it near your house or an area where you spend time outdoors to take advantage of its lovely fragrance.
Scentsation Honeysuckle Care
It’s low maintenance, deer resistant and usually pest and disease-free. Pruning is not required but may be done after the flowering period ends. The tube-shaped 2-inch flowers attract butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. Scentsation Honeysuckle can be grown in a full sun location in USDA plant hardiness zones 4 to 9. It can tolerate light shade in warmer climates. Its mature size is 5 to 6 feet high and 8 to 10 feet wide. It prefers moist, but well-drained soils.
Scentsation Honeysuckle Spacing
This deciduous climbing vine won the Climbing Plant of the Year 2016 at Le Rendez-vous Horticole in Montreal. Space multiple clematis plants at least 5 to 6 feet apart.
