Looking for an aromatic focal point for your lawn or garden? The Shoal Creek Chaste Tree might be what you’re looking for. Known for producing an amazing fragrance from its flowers, this tree can give your space the perfect ornamental effect you’ve been searching for!
Reaching 12’ tall, this multi-trunk tree has an identical span, stretching 12’ wide. Although this tree blooms in the summer, it holds leaves clear into the winter, and sprouts new growth each spring. Blooms give way to flowers in beautiful shades of purple with gray-green foliage. While these trees are mainly used as centerpieces in landscaping, they can also serve practical purposes like creating hedges or privacy barriers.
Shoal Creek Chaste Tree Care
Care for this tree is simple: as much sun as possible and at least a medium amount of watering. However, if planted in a location susceptible to extreme heat, additional watering will be required. Make sure the planting location’s soil is loose, because this tree cannot establish roots in denser areas. Adequate drainage is also important – too much moisture can prevent expected growth. Finally, for those on the coast, skip the precautionary measures, as salt spray, high winds, and blowing sand won’t damage the tree.
Shoal Creek Chaste Tree Spacing
Spacing completely depends on usage, so for hedges or wind protection, allow for 10-11’ between trees.
