Showpiece™ Blush Fragrant Shrub Rose gives off serious perfume from a compact plant that stays 2–3 ft. tall and wide. The soft pink blooms have a full, old-rose look, but the plant behaves more like a modern landscape rose with strong pest and disease resistance. Botanically known as Rosa x 'Noa1811108', this own-root selection was bred for heavy flowering and garden toughness. We like using it where people naturally slow down, because the fragrance is the whole point and it’s strongest up close.
This shrub rose blooms in flushes through summer and can keep going until frost with regular deadheading. Once established it handles short dry spells better than many fragrant roses, which makes it less demanding in sunny beds and exposed patios. The upright, bushy habit looks lush with mid-green foliage, and it also makes a surprisingly good cutting rose for small arrangements. As part of the Showpiece™ Fragrant Shrub Roses line from the Flower Carpet® breeding background, 'Blush' is built for color and performance.
Showpiece™ Blush Fragrant Shrub Rose Care
Plant in full sun for the best bloom count and strongest scent. Showpiece™ Fragrant Shrub Roses prefer enriched, well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to near-neutral pH (about 6.0–7.0). Drainage is key, so avoid spots that stay wet after rain.
Water Showpiece™ Blush deeply right after planting and keep the root zone evenly moist for the first month. Once settled, water when the top few inches of soil dry out. Feed in spring as new growth starts, and again after the first big bloom cycle with a rose fertilizer or slow-release balanced option. It goes dormant in winter and will push fresh canes as temperatures warm.
Prune in late winter to early spring by removing weak, damaged, or crossing stems. Shorten the remaining canes to shape the plant and encourage vigorous new flowering growth. During bloom season, deadhead back to a strong leaf to keep the flushes coming, and add a mulch ring to steady soil moisture in heat. In zone 4, a thicker winter mulch over the root area helps protect the crown on exposed sites.
Showpiece™ Blush Fragrant Shrub Rose Spacing
Space plants about 3 feet apart so each shrub can fill out without crowding and dry its foliage after watering. For containers, use a 16–20 inch pot with drainage to support repeat flowering through the season.
In the garden, pair it with Russian sage and allium for a mix of airy texture and upright accents. In pots, combine it with verbena and alyssum to keep flowers coming around the base while the rose supplies height and fragrance.
