Showpiece™ Orange Fragrant Shrub Rose pumps out big, classic double blooms with real rose perfume on a compact 2–3 ft. by 2–3 ft. shrub. The orange flower color looks warm and sophisticated rather than loud, and it holds up better than many older fragrant roses thanks to modern disease resistance. Scientifically known as Rosa x 'Noa1112130', it was selected for old-world flower form on a tidy plant that fits today’s gardens. We suggest you plant it where you’ll pass by often, because the fragrance is noticeable at nose level.
This Showpiece™ selection flowers from late spring through summer and keeps sending blooms into fall when it’s happy, with clean glossy green foliage. The upright, compact habit makes it easy to tuck into a mixed bed, repeat along a walkway, or feature in a patio pot without it swallowing nearby plants. Stems are long enough for casual cutting, so you can enjoy the scent indoors without stripping the plant bare. Because it grows on its own roots, this rose can regrow true-to-type even after a rough winter.
Showpiece™ Orange Fragrant Shrub Rose Care
Give Showpiece™ Orange Fragrant Shrub Rose full sun for the heaviest bloom set (aim for 6+ hours of direct light). Plant in fertile, organic-rich soil that drains well, with a slightly acidic to near-neutral pH (about 6.0–7.0). Avoid low spots where water lingers, because roses resent wet feet more than they resent short dry spells.
Water deeply right after planting and keep the root zone evenly moist for the first several weeks. Once established, shift to soaking when the top couple inches of soil start to dry. Feed in early spring as new growth starts and again after the first strong flush using a rose fertilizer or a slow-release balanced blend. Showpiece™ Orange will drop its leaves in winter and push fresh canes and foliage as temperatures warm.
In late winter or early spring, thin out weak or crossing canes and shorten the remaining stems to shape the plant and open the center for airflow. During the growing season, deadhead back to a strong outward-facing leaf to speed repeat bloom, and add a light mulch layer in zone 5 to buffer freeze-thaw cycles.
Showpiece™ Orange Fragrant Shrub Rose Spacing
Space plants about 3 feet apart so sunlight and air can move through the foliage. For containers, step up to a 16–20 inch pot with drainage to accommodate the deep root system.
In the landscape, pair Showpiece™ Orange with dead nettle and coral bells to keep color going at the base while the rose cycles blooms. In pots, try annual salvia and sweet potato vines for a fuller patio display that still leaves the rose as the star.
