- Use As A Thriller In Containers
For a bold injection of color, why not try the Snaptastic™ Red Snapdragon with its spikes of sumptuous red flowers. Also known as Antirrhinum majus, this snapdragon is easy to grow and care for and will flower from early summer onwards. A height of around 16 inches makes the Snaptastic™ Red Snapdragon a useful annual.
The Snaptastic™ Red Snapdragon has been bred to develop multiple flower stems that are strong and sturdy. This frost-tender plant is considered hardy in zones 8 through to 11. For maximum impact, you can plant it en masse in a border. It is also ideal as a container thriller.
Snaptastic™ Red Snapdragon Care
The Snaptastic™ Red Snapdragon performs and flowers best when it is given full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Irrigate regularly after planting and whenever the top layer of soil has dried out. Fertilizing with a liquid feed every 2 weeks will help encourage more blooms. Deadhead the spikes as they fade to prevent self-seeding and promote new spikes.
Snapdragons are commonly grown as an annual plant. However, in southern areas, you can treat them as a perennial by cutting back hard in early winter and mulching the roots.
Snaptastic™ Red Snapdragon Spacing
The Snaptastic™ Red Snapdragon grows to 14 to 16 inches tall and wide. A plant spacing of 14 to 16 inches is recommended to allow space for bushy growth.
