Snapdragons (Angelonia hybrids) are stalwarts of summer gardens and containers. Their tall stalks produce plenty of colorful flowers; place them in containers to thrill behind filler plants or use several to border garden beds.
Growing Snapdragons
Snapdragons come in many saturated colors, including the purple hues, whites, pinks and combinations of lavender-blue and white that we offer. These sturdy and easy-care flowers fill containers with thriller color in summer, and continue blooming with no deadheading needed. Snapdragons also are known as Angelonia. Snapdragons are perfect summer annuals, thrilling in containers, bordering garden beds, or as a fragrant mass planting.
The Best Way to Use Snapdragons
Liven up containers with colorful snapdragons, combining them with lower-growing filler plants. Add summer color to garden beds with snapdragon borders or mass groupings. Enjoy the sweet fragrance of snapdragons planted in a patio or deck container. Snapdragons grow to 12 to 18 inches high and blooms begin to open from the bottom of the stalk up.
Snapdragons Companion Plants
Snapdragons grow well with other sun-loving container flowers. These plants companion nicely as thrillers next to other plants like lantana, verbena, dianthus and yarrow. You can plant 3 or 5 for an informal look, or plant in even numbers for a more formal design.
