The bright yellow stems of the Snaptastic™ Yellow Snapdragon are ideal for adding a bit of cheering color to your garden. A cool season lover, the Antirrhinum majus Yellow Snapdragon as it is also known produces strong, upright stems up to 16 inch tall from early summer onwards. It makes a perfect small thriller in a mixed container.
There are so many uses for the Snaptastic™ Yellow Snapdragon. It is ideal for brightening up a container or border, and also makes a fabulous cut flower. Although commonly grown as an annual, it grows as a short-lived perennial in zones 8 to 11. Loved by hummingbirds and pollinators, this cheerful bloomer is not to be missed.
Snaptastic™ Yellow Snapdragon Care
The Snaptastic™ Yellow Snapdragon develops the best blooms when it is grown in full sun. As with other snaps, it prefers a neutral soil that is fertile and well drained. Water well after planting and from then on when the top inch of soil dries out. When the first flowers open, you can begin to fertilize every 2 weeks to prolong blooming. Regular deadheading will prevent the plant from going to seed and encourage more blooms.
Snapdragons are often grown as an annual and discarded at the end of the season. However, in warmer parts, you can cut them back hard in the fall and mulch to protect the roots over the winter months. They will return the following spring.
Snaptastic™ Yellow Snapdragon Spacing
Fully grown, the Snaptastic™ Yellow Snapdragon can reach a size of 14 to 16 inches tall and wide. When growing en masse, you can plant this snapdragon at a spacing of 14 to 16 inches.
