Weigelas serve multiple purposes in the landscape, including as screens or borders. Snippet Lime Weigela is an attractive dwarf variety for borders, containers or as featured shrubs before taller plants. No matter the use, you will love the bunches of pink blossoms that begin in spring and continuing throughout the summer.
Snippet Lime Weigela only grows to 1 or 2 feet high and wide. That's part of what makes it such a perfect border plant – it can frame sidewalks, driveways and garden beds – but it won't block the view of other plants in a bed or landscape. The other reason it is perfect for borders is its lush display of pretty pink flowers. A bonus? It is easy to care for in your garden. Be sure you can see Snippet Lime from a window, deck or patio since it also attracts hummingbirds and other pollinators.
Snippet Lime Weigela Care
Plant Snippet Lime Weigela in full sun in zones 4 through 8. It needs no deadheading to continue flowering and only slight pruning for shape or size. Unlike some weigelas, your blooms will appear on both old wood from the year before and new wood, or branches that form in spring. So, its spring bloom is dazzling. You can add some slow-release fertilizer in early spring to give your weigela a boost. The leaves will drop in winter but come back as spring days warm.
Snippet Lime Weigela Spacing
Snippet Lime Weigela deserves a prominent spot in your containers or landscape. When planting a border, be sure to place your weigelas 1 to 2 feet from each other (closer for a hedge effect and a little further for a border).
