Enjoy pretty light blue flowers on Sutera Snowstorm Glacier Blue (S. cordata), a trailing annual also called Bacopa. The blooms are dainty, but plentiful. The plant’s stems are graced with flowers all season, with no need to prune or deadhead. With its short mounding height but long spreading stems of color, Snowstorm Glacier Blue will fill and spill over a basket or container or cover the ground with all-summer blooms.

This Bacopa grows to only 4 to 10 inches high and spreads out 12 to 24 inches. In the landscape, it can grow along the edge of garden beds or “carpet” a slope. It can add lots of color to a patio container. Bees are attracted to the light blue blooms. This award-winning annual will bring plenty of continuous color to nearly any area of the landscape.

Snowstorm® Glacier Blue Bacopa Care

Plant Sutera Snowstorm Glacier Blue in spring where it gets full sun or partial sun, about 4 to 6 hours a day minimum. Although the plant has average water needs, it does not fare well if the soil dries out completely. The flowers and buds will drop off if drought stressed, but watering it regularly can bring flowers back into view within a couple of weeks. Blooming also might slow down a little during peak heat of summer, but will pick up again and continue until frost.

The continuous bloomer self-cleans, so there is no need to remove spent blooms. A light prune won’t hurt bacopa if needed to shape the plant. Although it can bloom without fertilizer, adding some organic compost or a balanced fertilizer at least once in late spring can help the plant keep performing. Fertilize container-grown plants a little more often for best performance.

Snowstorm® Glacier Blue Bacopa Spacing

Since Snowstorm Glacier Blue spreads, it works well as an edge plant or groundcover. Give the plants some room to grow, spacing them about 8 to 12 inches apart, depending on the effect you want.
