The foliage is a deep green and grows upright. On top of its stems, the clusters of red and white blooms open and face upwards. Flowering season is late spring to early summer. The Songbird 'Cardinal' Columbine grows to a garden height of twenty to twenty-eight inches and reaches a spread of eighteen to twenty-four inches. It can be used as a filler in your containers, plant in your landscape as a focal point, it does well when mass planted, and its cut flowers are the addition you need for your arrangements.
Songbird 'Cardinal' Columbine Care
Plant in full to part sun. The Songbird 'Cardinal' Columbine needs four to six hours of sun per day. Water needs are average. Soil should be moist and well drained. This perennial will tolerate varying Ph levels and different soil types. To encourage rebloom and improve appearance, remove spent blooms as needed. Apply controlled release fertilizer in the spring. After flowering trim dead foliage to the ground.
