Sedum is a hardy plant that is part of the succulent family. The Spellbound Stonecrop Sedum has thick, grey-green foliage that is striking on its own, but this plant also blooms. Late in the summer and into the fall, this perennial will be covered in light pink flowers that attract bees. Sedum is one of the easiest plants to care for; it is drought-tolerant and known for being able not just to live but thrive in challenging conditions. Essentially, find a sunny spot with good drainage, and this plant will do very well.
Use Spellbound Stonecrop Sedum as a groundcover, mass plantings, edging, or container plant. Sedum has a mounded growth habit and will gradually spread out with time. This adaptable plant can do well in most conditions and is a great choice for forgetful or hands-off gardeners. Grow Spellbound Stonecrop Sedum as a perennial in USDA zones 3 through 9.
Spellbound Stonecrop Sedum Care
Plant Stonecrop in full sun, so a spot that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight. Sedum prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Water newly planted Sedum once a week to help the roots become established. Sedum won’t need water by the second growing season unless there is an extended dry spell.
Deadheading is unnecessary. Sedum does not require feeding and will do very well without fertilizer. You can apply a very light dose of granular plant food or diluted liquid fertilizer once a year during the spring if the plant is grown in poor-quality soil. Another option is to apply a layer of organic mulch to give the plant a nutritional boost and cut down on weeds. Sedum can be propagated through division.
Spellbound Stonecrop Sedum Spacing
Spellbound Stonecrop Sedum is a mounded plant that will grow 18 to 20 inches tall and spread out 30 to 32 inches. Plants can be spaced as close as 30 inches apart to create a thick, mass planting. Feature one plant in a 16- to 18-inch container.
