For great long-lasting color and value, the Spintop™ Orange Halo Blanket Flower is hard to beat. This gaillardia’s flowers really are eye-catching, as the dark orange petals are tipped with yellow and surround dark red centers. Blooming from early summer onwards upon a mound of green foliage, this blanket flower lives up to its name. With a small and compact form, Spintop™ Orange Halo is suitable for many planting opportunities.

Being resistant to most deer and rabbits, the Spintop™ Orange Halo Blanket Flower is suitable for growing in both urban and rural locations. As a sun-loving perennial, it is considered drought and heat tolerant once established. Growing to around 1 foot high and wide, it is ideal for filling a gap in a border, planting out in a group, or for growing in a container. With its open centers, it is loved by butterflies when in bloom.

Spintop™ Orange Halo Blanket Flower Care

For best bloom performance, Spintop™ Orange Halo should be grown in full sun. It prefers free-draining soil and can tolerate most pH balances. Although this blanket flower can cope with heat and sun, it does need to be frequently watered after planting. If grown in a relatively fertile soil, this gaillardia does not need any extra fertilization, as too much nutrition can cause this plant to flop and its flowers to diminish.

If you want this plant to keep blooming all summer long, deadhead it at regular intervals over the summer. When the foliage begins to yellow in the fall, the stems can simply be cut back to several inches from the ground and cleared away.

Spintop™ Orange Halo Blanket Flower Spacing

The compact Spintop™ Orange Halo Blanket Flower grows to a maximum of 10-12 inches high and 12-15 inches wide. If filling a bed or border with a mass of its orange color, space Spintop™ Orange Halo around 1 foot between plants.

    Happy...

Posted by Pam Smith on May 10, 2023

This is the first time I’ve ordered plants online and and am very happy with the results. They were delivered with care and are now adjusting well to my gardens. As long as the Florida weather doesn’t kill them, I’ll be able to enjoy them for a long time. Would definitely order from them again!
