Some of the showiest of spring groundcovers, creeping phlox create cushions of starry flowers which come up to play with the tulips and anemones. Pink Sparkles brings much-loved creeping phlox to a new level – offering flowers double the size of most, more of them, and with a neater mounded habit that looks good even after blooming.
Pink Sparkles, part of the Spring Bling series of phlox subulata hybrids, levels off at a max of 8 inches and can spread up to 28 inches. It also attracts bees and butterflies, making your garden more pollinator-friendly. These easy-care plants are wonderful players for cottage gardens, rain gardens, rock gardens, and slopes, either massed or as an edging.
Spring Bling Pink Sparkles Phlox Care
They are adaptable to fertile soils, but prefer a slightly lean, alkaline soil with excellent drainage. If necessary, a raised bed offers good drainage when used along with a light soil mix.
Shearing the green foliage after bloom will encourage a dense habit and possible rebloom. Division is best done in summer, every few years.
Spring Bling Pink Sparkles Phlox Spacing
It’s a good idea to allow from 24 to 28 inches between these creeping phlox for optimal growth and display.
