Starblast Pink Spurge, botanically known as Euphorbia hypericifolia ‘Starblast Pink’, produces a constant haze of soft pink bracts from spring until frost without a single spent flower to pinch. At just 8–12 inches tall and spreading 10–12 inches wide, it forms a tidy mound that fills gaps and softens hard edges in beds and containers. Unlike many flowering annuals that stall in extreme heat, this variety keeps pushing new growth and color through summer’s toughest stretches. The fine texture threads beautifully between bold companions without overpowering them.
Bred for durability, Starblast Pink handles heat, humidity, and short dry spells once established. The airy bracts float above clean green foliage, creating movement and contrast in mixed plantings. Deer leave it alone, making it a practical choice for exposed gardens. Use it as a groundcover along sunny borders, a filler in patio pots, or massed in window boxes where it creates a soft pink veil.
Starblast Pink Spurge Care
Provide full sun to part sun, with at least four hours of direct light daily for the best flowering. Plant in loose, well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Water thoroughly after planting, then allow the top inch of soil to dry before watering again; avoid constantly saturated conditions. In containers, check moisture more frequently during peak summer heat. Feed lightly every three to four weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer to maintain steady growth.
No deadheading is required to keep it blooming. If plants begin to stretch midsummer, a light trim will encourage fresh branching and a fuller shape. Wear gloves when pruning, as euphorbia sap can irritate skin. In warm zones, many gardeners simply cut plants back lightly to encourage fresh growth. In colder regions, however, it will decline with frost and should be replaced the following season.
Starblast Pink Spurge Spacing
Space plants 10–12 inches apart in beds to allow them to spread into a uniform, low mound. For containers, start with at least a 10-inch diameter pot for one plant, or combine several in larger mixed planters. It performs equally well in garden soil or confined container settings. Pair with ornamental grass, salvia, and sweet potato vine for contrast in both texture and form.
