Steady Eddy™ is a striking, reliable repeat bloomer with elegant, lacy, white flowers. It is difficult to believe that there is an improved ‘Summer Snowflake’ but Steady Eddy™ is a stronger bloomer. It flowers for a long time in spring and again in summer. A deciduous shrub, it has dark green, glossy, deep-veining leaves. It grows to a height of 48-60 inches with a spread of 48-60 inches. This space-saving shrub is low maintenance.

The horizontal growth habit of the branches provides a peerless architectural feature in the landscape. The flowers grow along the branches in rows or files, hence the name doublefile viburnum. It has no serious insect or disease problems. It is deer and rabbit resistant while attracting pollinators. Steady Eddy™ has a space-saving habit, growing half the size of conventional viburnums, making it suitable for smaller spaces. Use it in the border, for mass plantings, or as a specimen or focal point. Its flowering branches make a lovely filler for cut flower arrangements.

Steady Eddy Viburnum Care

This is a low maintenance shrub for zones 5-8. Plant it in moist, well-drained soil with mulch around the roots to keep them cool. Water consistently. Viburnums are not heavy feeders but, to help support growth and overall health of the plant, you may feed them after they bloom with a slow-release shrub and tree food.

Steady Eddy™ prefers part sun to sun locations. It adapts well to most soil types. Pruning is not necessary. You may remove the oldest stems every few years.

Steady Eddy Viburnum Spacing

In the landscape, in mass plantings for example, space plants 60 inches apart. When placing it in a border with other plants allow enough room for its spread of 48-60 inches.
