Sunmagic® Vintage Fuchsia Coneflower supplies saturated fuchsia color on sturdy, well-branched stems. It matures at about 18–24 inches tall and 18–24 inches wide, forming a compact, mounding clump that flowers heavily from July through September. Many coneflowers throw blooms on scattered stems, but this one produces loads of branching so the flowers sit in a more uniform “cap” across the plant. The consistent shape of this coneflower is made for repeat plantings because it shows up as a uniform color block from a distance.
This Echinacea hybrid was selected for strong crown branching, big, flat, open flowers, and a long summer run. The bright petals and prominent cones are busy with bees and butterflies, and the dried seed cones support songbirds. Use it to stitch bold color through a border that leans into yellows and blues, to tighten up a modern meadow planting, or to carry patio containers when midsummer heat is at its peak. It also earns its space in a cut garden since the stems hold well in a vase when cut as the petals first extend.
Sunmagic® Vintage Fuchsia Coneflower Care
Plant Vintage Fuchsia in full sun to part sun, with the highest flower count in full sun. Choose well-drained soil that’s moderately fertile and keep the pH slightly acidic to neutral, about 5.5–7.0. Avoid sites that stay wet after rain, especially in winter.
Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season, then water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry; established plants tolerate periodic drought. Feed lightly in early spring as new growth starts, using an organic or slow-release fertilizer so growth stays sturdy. Coneflower dies back in winter and returns from the crown in spring.
Deadhead spent blooms through summer to keep new buds coming, then stop late in the season if you want the seed cones to remain for texture and bird interest. Cut stems back close to the ground in late winter before the spring flush begins. Divide in spring every few years if the clump becomes crowded and flowering slows.
Sunmagic® Vintage Fuchsia Coneflower Spacing
Space plants 18–24 inches apart to let the mounds fill in without trapping humidity around the crowns. In containers, use a 14–16 inch pot with a fast-draining mix so the roots can dry slightly between waterings. In the landscape, pair it with Shasta daisies and sea thrift to sharpen the fuchsia with crisp whites and tighter forms nearby. For patio pots, combine it with lantana and bacopa for steady color at the rim while the coneflower carries the main height and pollinator action.
