It will reach 6 to 12 inches in height with a wide 18 to 30-inch spread.
Use this plant in the front of garden beds or in mass plantings as a ground cover. It can also be used in the spiller role in container gardens. It will trail up to 30 inches, so it’s a perfect choice for window boxes, hanging baskets, and tall planters. Verbena Superbena Large Lilac Blue is heat tolerant, powdery mildew resistant, attracts butterflies, and is deer resistant. It won a top performer award in several trial gardens.
Superbena® Large Lilac Blue Verbena Care
No deadheading is required for continuous blooms making this an easy to care for plant. It prefers average soil fertility and moisture level growing conditions but will survive in dry soils with low fertility levels. Amend the soil with compost or apply a slow-release fertilizer before planting. Container grown plants may need a second fertilizer application for optimal flowering and growth. Verbena Superbena Large Lilac Blue doesn’t need pruning but can be sparingly trimmed anytime to encourage more branching to produce a fuller plant.
Verbena Superbena Large Lilac Blue is hardy in USDA planting zones 8 through 11. Grow it as an annual in colder climates. It may survive indoors as a houseplant if placed in a sunny, warm location.
Superbena® Large Lilac Blue Verbena Spacing
When planting Superbena Large Lilac Blue in garden beds, space each plant 10 to 14 inches apart. Plants may be spaced as close as 6 inches apart in a container to create a more filled in look. Do not cram an individual plant into a small pot. It will not bloom as profusely as under optimal conditions.
