Like all Superbenas, Royale® Iced Cherry is vigorous, heat tolerant, drought tolerant, and mildew resistant. Unlike other Superbenas, it has a tidy mounded trailing habit that won’t outgrow smaller containers. Butterflies flock to the prolific cherry-pink flowers, and deer stay away. It’s no wonder this variety has won over 20 awards! You’ll be singing its praises, too, after you experience their vibrant color and easy-going attitude for yourself.
Thanks to its mounded trailing habit, Superbena Royale® Iced Cherry works well as both a “spiller” and “filler” in combination container plantings. It does well in a variety of soils, so this is a great annual for planting in the landscape. Try planting it towards the front of the garden bed or along walkways to best enjoy the gentle trailing aspect and brilliant blooms. It’s also a fabulous choice for mass planting and edging.
Superbena Royale® Iced Cherry Verbena Care
At least four hours of sunlight per day are required for Superbena Royale® to live up to its full potential. They can tolerate low-fertility and dry soils, but will do best when evenly watered. An application of compost or slow-release fertilizer is all it takes to help them thrive through the season.
No deadheading is necessary, but a little trim can increase branching and encourage fuller growth.
Superbena Royale® Iced Cherry Verbena Spacing
Superbena Royale® is just as vigorous as other Superbena, but takes up less space. They are a better choice for smaller containers than some of their cousins. They can trail and spread up to 24”, and require 8-12” of space when planted. Plant closer in containers and further apart in the ground.
