- Top selling verbena!
- Growing Zones 8 - 11
A best-selling and award-winning variety, Superbena Royale® Plum Wine is mildew and heat-tolerant as well as vigorous and hardy. Superbena Royale® bloom earlier in the season, and are more easily grown in smaller containers than their larger, later blooming Superbena cousins. The prolific plum Verbena flowers envelope the entire plant in color all season long. They perform well in both containers and landscapes — even garden beds with low-fertility, dry soil.
As if its hardy nature and ample growth are not impressive enough, Superbena Royale® Plum Wine can also act as both a spiller and a thriller in combination container plantings. It has a mounding, trailing growth habit that is full and lush, with trails up to 24” that soften the edges of borders, sidewalks and containers. The cascade of flowers attracts butterflies and brightens any vignette with a vibrant plum-purple hue.
Superbena Royale® Plum Wine Verbena Care
Superbena Royale® varieties are vigorous and easy to care for. An application of compost or well-balanced fertilizer will keep them happy in garden beds all season long. If growing in containers, regular fertilization is needed to support their growth.
Allow the soil to dry before watering. A light trim will boost branching and lead to a fuller look, but is not always necessary. This is a self-cleaning variety that requires no deadheading.
Superbena Royale® Plum Wine Verbena Spacing
Well suited for smaller containers, Superbena Royale® Plum Wine can be planted 6-8” apart in pots. If you’re planting Superbena Royale in the ground, plant them further apart, with 8-12” of space between plants.
