Mature Height

Mature Spread
This Verbena hybrid produces bright red, white-centered large globes of flowers. It will stand out in any sunny to partially sunny area of your garden from spring to hard frost. The brightly colored flowers contrast nicely with its pointy, textured medium green foliage. This short plant reaches 6 to 12 inches in height with an 18 to 30-inch spread at maturity. It grows in a mounding trailing habit.
Verbena Superbena Scarlet Star can be used as a flowering ground cover, in the front section of garden beds, or as a spiller plant in container gardens. It will trail up to 24 inches in a container garden making it a great choice for window boxes and patio or porch planters. They pair well with other plants that produce brightly colored flowers. This verbena attracts butterflies, drought-tolerant, and resists mildew and deer.
Superbena® Scarlet Star Verbena Care
This top-performing award winner is easy to care for. It’s self-cleaning, so deadheading is not necessary for continuous blooms to appear. Verbena Superbena Scarlet Star has average water and soil fertility requirements. In garden beds, it can tolerate dry soils. Amend the soil in garden beds with compost or a slow-release fertilizer before planting. Regularly fertilize container-grown plants according to the directions on the package for more vigorous growth and flower production. Trimming is not necessary, but a slight trim will encourage branching and fuller plants.
Verbena Superbena Scarlet Star is typically grown as an annual. It is hardy in USDA planting zones 8 through 11. It may not do well as a houseplant, but it may survive under grow lights.
Superbena® Scarlet Star Verbena Spacing
Space plants 10 to 14 inches apart in the ground. Space them at least 8 inches apart in a container garden.
