Boasting stunning semi-double cantaloupe colored flowers above dark green foliage, this versatile summer beauty blooms all summer. The orange petals of this Echinacea flower surround a dark brown eye and as the flower matures the pom pom top fills out. This medium-sized, upright plant is an easy care addition to any garden. A hardy perennial in zones 4-1, this fragrant beauty can be used as a long-lasting cut flower.
This versatile plant is a heavy hitter in your landscape. Supreme Cantaloupe can be used as a thriller in large containers, for mass plantings, or as a focal point/specimen plant. Attracting bees, birds, butterflies and hummingbirds, this plant will bring pollinators and wildlife to the garden without attracting the attention of deer.
Supreme Cantaloupe Coneflower Care
Plant Supreme Cantaloupe Coneflower in part to full sun (4-6+ hours daily) for best performance. Use an all-purpose, slow release fertilizer when planting in containers and landscape. Adding compost to your beds when planting is beneficial. The seed pods of this coneflower provide a natural source of food for birds, but can be deadheaded if you prefer a tidier plant.
Whether you are planting this coneflower in the landscape or in containers, make sure the soil has good drainage and is friable. While coneflowers are fairly drought tolerant, they do not like wet soil. Do not allow the soil to stay wet for long periods of time.
Supreme Cantaloupe Coneflower Spacing
Supreme Cantaloupe Coneflower reaches a height of 24-36 inches tall and has a spread of 24-36 inches. For best results space plants 24-36 inches apart when planting in beds.
