With its rose-scented foliage, the Sweet Mimosa Scented Geranium is a rather special plant. Officially a pelargonium, ‘Sweet Mimosa’ produces large lobed green leaves and large pink flowers that are mottled red. It grows to around two feet high and is perfect for growing in a container. It flowers from summer until the fall.

The Sweet Mimosa Scented Geranium develops a compact and upright form. Originally from South Africa, it is no surprise that this pelargonium is tender and needs protection from the cold. You can bring it indoors over the winter or place it in a conservatory. This geranium is also resistant to deer and tolerant of dry conditions.

Sweet Mimosa Scented Geranium Care

In order to thrive, Sweet Mimosa Scented Geranium likes to grow in full sun. Grow it in free-draining and fertile compost either inside or outdoors. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between watering. Extra fertilizer is not strictly necessary. However, you can apply a weak solution of a low-nitrogen feed after flowering to encourage more blooms.

Deadhead the faded flowers to encourage new buds to form. As the temperatures fall at the end of summer, you can overwinter this pelargonium in a protected space.

Sweet Mimosa Scented Geranium Spacing

The Sweet Mimosa Scented Geranium is ideal for growing in a pot on its own. Alternatively, you can grow it outdoors at a spacing of around two feet apart.
