Growing Zones
Sweet Summer Hydrangea, or Hydrangea panicle Sweet Summer ('Bokrathirteen') is dense, resilient shrub with mounds of fluffy, conical panicles. These blooms are packed with clusters of white florets that blush to multi-toned shades of light pink as the summer fades into fall. The Sweet Summer Hydrangea is long-blooming and prolific, providing stunning color all season long. In addition to its mammoth blooms, held aloft on super strong stems, the Sweet Summer Hydrangea produces a vibrant bed of contrasting, green foliage. The Sweet Summer grows to a mature height of 5 to 6 feet, with an equal spread. They are a beautiful addition to any landscape.
Bred by Bloomables®, the Sweet Summer Hydrangea has a mounding, compact, symmetrical habit. They are season-long bloomers, with new flowers maturing and blooming continuously, throughout the spring, summer, and fall. This variety of hydrangea is adaptable and low-maintenance. Hydrangeas make excellent cut flowers and are a favorite of growers and florists for their long vase life and dried flower appeal.
Sweet Summer Hydrangea Care
The low-maintenance Sweet Summer Hydrangea thrives in full sun to partial shade. It should be watered regularly until established, about an inch of water per week. These hydrangeas perform best in consistently moist soil. You should feed your hydrangeas every year with a time-release, organic fertilizer.
This variety grows on both old and new wood and requires minimal pruning. To control the height or shape of your Sweet Summer, prune it back in early spring to encourage new growth, increased branching, and stronger blooms.
Sweet Summer Hydrangea Spacing
When planting your Sweet Summer Hydrangea, space plants 3 feet apart center to center in areas where they can receive adequate airflow. The Sweet Summer Hydrangea can be used in arrangements and bouquets to provide elegant color and dimension. They are stunning when planted in compact spaces, and are excellent options for pots and containers. They provide an ornamental focal point in any landscape.
