Growing Zones
The stunning white blooms of the Takion White Bellflower will add a touch of elegance wherever you choose to grow them. Also known as Campanula persicifolia 'Takion White', this Bellflower produces large white flowers 2 ½ inches across, from early summer onwards. A maximum height of 20 inches makes this a versatile perennial with a variety of garden roles.
Help aloft on strong upright stems, the flowers of the Takion White Bellflower face outward and up, unlike some other bellflowers. A hardy perennial, the Takion White Bellflower will keep coming back year after year and is suitable for growing in zones 3 to 8. Plant it in drifts in a cottage or informal garden scheme for maximum impact; you can also grow it in a container.
Takion White Bellflower Care
The Takion White Bellflower is equally happy in full sun to partial shade. However, in southern climates, it may benefit from some shading from harsh afternoon sun. It performs best in a fertile soil that is moist, yet well drained. Being a smaller bellflower, staking is generally not needed. Water frequently to keep the soil moist, but avoid overwatering to the point where the soil becomes saturated. An annual slow-release fertilizer applied in spring or a liquid feed from early summer will help encourage a second flush of flowers.
As the flowers fade, cut back the flowering stems to promote further blooming. In colder areas, the foliage may die back in winter and can be removed. Mulch annually in spring to help prevent moisture loss over the summer months.
Takion White Bellflower Spacing
When established, the Takion White Bellflower can grow to 16 to 20 inches tall and 12 to 16 inches across. A plant spacing of 12 to 16 inches is advisable when growing as a group.
