Tandoori Orange viburnum is the first viburnum to have orange berries! Coupled with cloud like white flowers and orange-red fall color makes this the viburnum that will make your garden stand out in the neighborhood. Pollinators love it, birds love it, the fall colors are stunning and it is a magnificent addition to your landscape. In fact by adding this to the garden you could have a certified wildlife garden too!
Viburnums are native to North America with little disease and insect problems so no worries about bugs The frothy white flowers can be used in flower arrangements as well as using the berried branches in arrangements too! ‘Tandoori Orange’ ideally can be used as a hedge, a screen barrier, as the focal point in your garden or in the back of the perennial border to highlight the plants. This viburnum, like all viburnums are deer, insect and disease resistant. It is a great pollinator plant that all local wildlife will benefit from. It is also deer resistant, so no need to worry about hungry animals.
Tandoori Orange Viburnum Care
Like all viburnums they prefer part to full sun (berry production is best in full sun), average but moist, well-draining soil and fertilize with a slow release fertilizer for acid loving plants. Pruning Tandoori Orange Viburnum isn’t needed except for broken or dead branches. It blooms on old wood, so only prune right after it flowers. This plant is hardy from Zones 5a-8b. ‘Tandoori Orange’ is an upright growing shrub that grows 6-8 ft. high and equally as wide For increased berry production plant with Viburnum ‘Cardinal Candy’.
Tandoori Orange Viburnum Spacing
If using as a hedge or a screen space the plants 7-9 ft. apart on center. This also makes a great background plant, when spaced over 7 feet apart from other plants. Only use in very large garden planters as a “thriller” in the container.
