Enjoy late-season color thanks to the Taylor's Perfection Camellia. This blooming stunner is easy to maintain and boasts large, semi-double soft pink flowers. The evergreen plant blooms in late fall and flowers last into the winter. The glossy foliage is a dark green and has a leathery texture with serrated edges, and it provides a stark contrast against the delicate blooms.
Plant Taylor's Perfection Camellia in tandem with an early-blooming variety to enjoy continuous flowers. This plant works well as a mass planting, hedge, privacy screen, or as a container planting. Blooms can also be used as cut flowers. Established Camellia are drought- and heat-tolerant. This variety attracts birds and butterflies and grows as a perennial in USDA zones 8 through 10.
Taylor's Perfection Camellia Plant Care
Plant in an area with partial to filtered sun. Ideally, this plant needs 2 to 3 hours of direct light or a full day of dappled light. Use slightly acidic soil that allows for good drainage. Water the Camellia when the top few inches of soil dry out. The plant will need less water during the second growing season. Apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plant to help hold onto moisture and protect the roots from chilly temperatures during the winter.
Use an acidic fertilizer to feed the plant during the spring after cold weather is no longer likely. Shape the plant or cut back overgrowth in the spring before new growth emerges.
Taylor's Perfection Camellia Plant Spacing
Taylor's Perfection Camellia should grow 6 to 8 feet tall and be just as wide. When using this plant as a hedge or privacy screen, plant the shrubs as close as 4 feet center to center. The plants can be spaced further if you want space between each Camellia or other nearby plants.
