Looking for a versatile hedge or border plant that can deliver a traditional look or a colorful contemporary shape? Tide Hill Boxwood is the perfect choice! If shaped, it makes an outstanding traditional hedge, or if left alone, it will develop a spreading, open habit that makes a beautiful backdrop for any landscape design. This dense, dwarf, spreading boxwood is very well branched and will deliver versatile looks depending on your preference. Tide Hill Boxwood’s shiny foliage begins as chartreuse in the early spring and turns a rich, deep green mid-growing season.
This evergreen shrub is hardy from zone 5-8. Tide Hill Boxwood is easy to grow and low maintenance and will provide your garden with color year round! Tide Hill Boxwood is a good choice for low, formal hedges. The plant is also excellent in mass plantings or as a container plant. Tide Hill Boxwood is deer resistant.
Tide Hill Boxwood Care
Tide Hill Boxwood prefers full sun and can tolerate part shade. Do not plant or place containers in very hot or dry locations with direct afternoon sun. They prefer relatively sheltered locations from sun and wind. Tide Hill Boxwood prefers well-drained soil with average-to-moist conditions and can tolerate a range of pH levels. These plants have a shallow root system, so be careful not to disturb the soil too much around the plant.
If given enough sun, this boxwood can be grown indoors as the spiller feature in a combination planter. Tide Hill Boxwood is very tolerant of pruning and shearing. Prune in late winter or early spring to create a tighter, more dense plant. Choosing not to prune allows the plant to creep and trail more. Give your Tide Hill Boxwood a thick layer of mulch to prepare for the winter, and water it regularly until the ground freezes.
Tide Hill Boxwood Spacing
Tide Hill Boxwood can reach 24 inches tall with a spread of 4 feet. These plants are slow growers; space plants 3-4 feet apart to allow adequate space for plants to reach maturity.
