There is no cheerier flower than the bright yellow Tiny Bee Lily. This is a dwarf Asiatic LIly that does not get bigger than a foot tall and wide but produces flowers for almost a month in midsummer. The large yellow flowers open atop compact stems, just the right size for a container placed in even the smallest space.
Tiny Bee is resistant to fungal disease and root rot and is part of the Lily Looks™ range of ornamental Lilies bred in Holland. These cultivars are bred to be extremely easy to grow and very compact. Place Tiny Bee at the front of a garden bed, a rock garden, or a container of mixed seasonal plants to add a punch of bright yellow.
Tiny Bee Asiatic Lily Care
Plant Tiny Bee in full sun to part shade and provide fast-draining soil. Lilies are bulbs that do not tolerate having wet feet at any time of the year. Allow one inch of water a week from natural rain or supplemental irrigation. Check containers daily for watering needs. The top 1-2 inches of soil should be allowed to dry between waterings. Fertilize early in the growing season with a granular feed for bulbs or other flowering perennials.
Deadhead Tiny Bee when the flowers die off. Carefully remove the whole bloom without disturbing any still-developing flowers on the stem. Allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it. The leaves produce food for the bulb to overwinter and produce large flowers for the following season. Mulching with a 2-3 inch layer of shredded leaves or arborist chips will add insulation to the soil and protection from cold temperatures.
Tiny Bee Asiatic Lily Spacing
Tiny Bee matures to a height of 12-14 inches and a spread of 12 inches. Space multiple plants 12 inches apart center on center. Grow each plant in a container with at least an 8-inch diameter.
