Lively orange blossoms nod on long stems held over the mounded foliage of Totally Tangerine Avens Geum from late spring until mid-summer. A hardy plant from Zones 4-7, Avens are pollinator-friendly flowers that attract both bees and butterflies to the garden. They also make a beautiful cut flower. Totally Tangerine is a vigorous bloomer and will bloom all season long when spent flowers are deadheaded.

Totally Tangerine looks vibrant planted in masses in rock gardens, borders, and perennial landscapes. The lush green foliage makes a great groundcover after bloom is over. The tall flowers can reach heights of 30”, while the mounded foliage grows to about 14”. This variable height makes it a great choice for both the foreground and midground of the landscape.

Totally Tangerine Geum Care

Totally Tangerine Avens Geum is an easy-care perennial that is hardy and disease resistant in Zones 4-7. A full or part-sun site is best, however he hotter your summers, the more shade this plant will need. They do best with consistent moisture and fast-draining soil. Avoid planting in areas that remain wet all winter long.

Deadheading will result in more blooms and a longer bloom time, but consider leaving a few of the later flowers on the plant to turn into fluffy seed heads over time. Young plants tend to perform better and more vigorously than older plants, so dividing these in the spring will keep them looking great.
